Teeny Tiny Squares & Shop

Published on 28th August 2020

The BIG NEWS this post is that the website has been updated to include an on-line shop.

Currently it holds limited edition prints and cards from some of my completed embroideries.  I'm in the process of having more pieces professionally photographed to add to the range.  There will also be cards, and probably prints, made from my collection of wood block prints, obi and kimono design sheets, and embroidered Japanese textiles.  I'll post updates as new items are added.  I hope people like what I post and they sell well.

Bit of a plug for the photographer here.  Natasha normally does family portraits but is also a very talented nature photographer.  She always does a great job and nothing is too much trouble.  On the last shoot I'd asked if she would attempt to take picutres of my work which had already been framed.  Always up for a challenge, she said yes and did a beautiful job.  If you'd like to see more of what she does check out her website here or her facebook page here.

On embroidery news, my last post about teeny tiny squares was in November 2018.  While I'd made some attempts to move this section forward I really wasn't happy with what I'd done.  It wasn't until April this year that I made a determined effort to make progress.

I really struggled with this section.  Not only because the motifs are tiny but trying to get straight lines and even spacing by eye.  In the end I knew it wasn't going to be perfect but, having accepted that, things got better because I'd relaxed.

That's not to say I didn't take sections out to re-do them, I did.  I worked, as per instructions from Kusano Sensei, on each motif in turn completing all of each motif before moving onto the next one.

Not entirely perfect and not completely square but on the whole I'm happy with what I've done.  Next time lots and lots of circles.
