Exciting news and updates

Published on 17th November 2024

Yet again it has been a very long time since I've written a full blog.  Most updates these days are posted via my page on Instagram, so head over there if you would like regular updates.  It has been a packed year, two classes, one trip to Japan, an exhibition, pieces started and finished and new skills learned.

Most exciting, is that one of my pieces has been accepted for The Broderers' Exhibition 2025: The Art of Embroidery.  This takes place between 25 February and 2 March 2025 at the Bankside Gallery in London.  I'm so proud that my work has been accepted and it will be very exciting.  I have been posting images of this piece over on Instagram, but will do a full blog on it here shortly now I know it has been accepted.

NEW CLASS VENUE - almost as exciting is that we are expanding our classes into the Oxford area.  The new venue is Shillingford Bridge Hotel in Wallingford.  Dates for the first class are 20 - 23 February 2025.  Students can attend for the usual four days and we are also offering a taster weekend for new starters.  If you are interested in attending this new class please contact me and we'll send more information.

Talking of classes, dates for the 2025 in person and on-line classes in Lytham St Annes have been added to the events page.

I have also added new items to the shop.  As we all know, it can be be very hard to keep our frames neat and clear.  To this end I have developed a Frame Tidy for use on our Japanese frames.  They are specifically designed for use when a frame is on a stand rather then between two tables.

They proved popular with students at our recent class, so I am now offering them for sale here.  Currently there are only six available, but I'll add more as I make them.

They have been designed to hang over a stretcher bar on our Japanese frames, fastening with three pair of very strong magnets.  This makes them easy to remove if you want to move your frame, or move the Tidy to the other end of your frame.  The magnets are strong so it will take quite a lot of weight.

You can see from this picture that mine has is holding quite a lot of paperwork.  However, I found that it was easy to catch the top of the papers with my arm on this version so I updated the design to be longer.  Now the top of A4 paper put into the largest pocket will hang below the level of the frame.

Each Tidy has one large, two medium, and six small pockets.  They are made with quilting or curtain fabric and are lined so should be quite hard wearing.
