Japanese Embroidery Academy

Published on 24th July 2014

For those of you who have been following my progress on Three Sisters you will know that they are being embroidered as part of a larger project.  Today is the day to tell you more.

They are part of a new modular learning system for Japanese embroidery. The official announcement is below.

Japanese Embroidery UK is pleased to announce the creation of a new modular learning system for the beautiful art of traditional Japanese embroidery.

The modular curriculum is a way of bringing the techniques of this embroidery to students in a more accessible and cost-effective way.  This new curriculum has been devised by our traditionally trained tutors, using traditional techniques and high quality materials.

The modular curriculum being offered by JEUK covers all the widely used traditional techniques and some less well known, with each module increasing your skills and knowledge.  Unlike the very traditional way of learning, copying and reproducing with no input, our new modules aim to stretch the students’ way of thinking from the first.  In this way we aim to not only produce technically excellent embroiderers but those who can take Japanese embroidery into the future.

Full information is now available at www.japaneseembroideryuk.academy and we look forward to welcoming you to our classes.

If you have any queries or would like more information, please visit the new website at www.japaneseembroideryuk.academy.

This is such an exciting development for Japanese embroiderers and future students. This offers choices in learning that have not previously existed and anything that makes JE accessible to a wider audience can only be a good.
